So what is the BFC exactly?
Fundamentally, we're a volunteer-operated Food Hub that works to tackle food insecurity and food waste in South London.
Like many Food Hubs, we've set ourselves up using a pantry-model. We accordingly charge £4.50 for each shop at the BFC. With this £4.50 we work to make sure that you leave with a selection of groceries valuing between £20-£25.
The majority of our stock is donated to us by The Felix Project and FareShare, vendors at Borough Market and other local businesses.
Absolutely everyone is welcome and encouraged to become a member - regardless of your location or economic circumstance. Just pop in during opening hours and sign up! More new customers means more people we can reach and less food waste!
Our volunteers mean absolutely everything to us. It's only with their help that we're able to offer any of our services. Would you like to join our team and lend a hand? We have a variety of available roles and a handful of different projects on the go - so what takes your fancy?
Roles involve running the shop during opening hours, setting up the shop behind the scenes, or working remotely to help us find donors and partners! Reach out if any of these are of interest.
